So you specify a start index and then the number of items you want to delete from that index on, now we don’t want to delete anything here, so maybe we start with index zero and the add zero in the second argument because we don’t want to delete anything instead and that’s now where the second version of the method comes into play we can add more arguments which will be items that are inserted in the place of these deleted values in the second arguments. Now how this splice()works? It takes at least two arguments but there is also another version which takes more arguments, so there are two different versions of that method. Now this way of adding elements is very rare though, adding something at an arbitrary index number where you then deliberately or not deliberately have empty spots in the array that’s not something you want to do in 99.99% of cases, so this is rarely used. What we have got here is that we have the first two elements as they are and then 4 empty indexes and then the last element that we added (sports), by the way, these are really empty places in the array, if you would access one of them, you will get undefined because nothing could be found there in the end, so that’s all nice to know. let hobbies = hobbies = 'sports' console.log(hobbies) Let’s have a look at another case, what if we actually target an index which isn’t set like index 6 in array let’s say it contains only two elements. So here we can select the element with index one and set it to a new item, it doesn’t have to be the same type as the previous item, by the way, I can set a number or anything else.
